WHEN WE EMERGE FROM OUR COCOON

when we emerge from our cocoon
“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly,
but rarely admit the changes
it has gone through
to achieve that beauty.”
: Maya Angelou.

While many of us are cocooned at home,
I’ve been wondering
what it will be like,
when we emerge from our cocoon.

I wonder what
will we cultivate,
what will we grow,
what will we discover,
what ‘new’ will we know.

RESPECT

Respect for the doctors, the nurses,
and other health workers,
And those who stack shelves.
All those that preserve us.
For everyone in life,
that we may overlook.
We’re all pages
in other people’s book.

It’s for the health of
our families and friends,
our colleagues
and neighbours,
acquaintances
and strangers.

Ones we’re yet to meet.
Others we bypass
on the street.

“How does one become a butterfly?
You must want to fly so much
that you are willing to
give up being a caterpillar.”

: Trina Paulus

The length of this duration,
this period of isolation.
allows time for rumination.
to look for inspiration.

Reach out for communication.
Distant participation.
From afar, collaboration.
Use your imagination.

Try musical gyration,
mixed with relaxation.
And highly recommended,
is a little meditation.

Dig deep with self-education.
Beware misinformation.
So many words
ending in -ation
so, I’ll bring this to
a culmination.

Hope you’re all well.
Keep safe.

I HOPE WE HOLD ON TO THE BEAUTY OF COMMUNITY

Heels worth wearing. Stories worth sharing.

Thank you for reading…
and if you feel so inclined,
please share with a friend
who may come to mind.

Have a beautiful night.
